我们刚刚看过一个有可能是 7 吋 iPad 的背壳 (http://cn.engadget.com/2012/08/04/alleged-images-of-7-inch-ipad-shell/#disqus_thread)，虽然其可信度一般，不过有另一个比较可信的证据证明 Apple 有可能考虑过开发 7 吋平板呢。日前网上流出了一封据称是 Apple 互联网软体及服务部 SVP Eddy Cue 向公司其他高层发出的电子邮件截图（在继续阅读中）。电邮的日期是在 2011 年 1 月 24 号（大约是 iPad 2 发布的一个多月前），收件人包括 Scott Forstall、Tim Cook 和 Phil Schiller。
Cue 向他们分享了一篇由 Gigaom 编辑 Kevin C. Tofel 所发「Why I Just Dumped the iPad (Hint: Size Matters)」文章，并指出在他用过 Galaxy Tab（第一代）之后，颇认同文章大部分的留言，认为 7 吋平板的确是一个可攻的市场，表示这个尺寸对用 Facebook、发电邮和看书等活动有利；不过上网就是弱了一点。另外，他还跟当时仍然在生的 CEO Steve Jobs 讲述过上述的内容，他觉得 Jobs 倾向接受他的提议的。有关的资讯就只有这些，很难说 Apple 在此之后有没有真正开始了 7 吋 iPad 的研发呢。如果想看看 Gigaom 的文章的话，可在引用来源找到。
