Canonical (http://cn.engadget.com/tag/Canonical/) 已经宣布旗下的 Ubuntu One (http://cn.engadget.com/tag/UbuntuOne/) 服务将会在 6 月 1 号正式退休。对于这个集云端储存和音乐串流于一身的服务之退休理由，Ubuntu CEO Jane Silber 的解释就是，如果他们想提一项服务，那他们的目标就是跟全球的对手竞争，但如果要将 Ubuntu One 发展到这个规模的话，那便需要投入他们不愿意付出的投资金额。与其跟 Dropbox 这类经常提供免费储存空间的云端竞争，他们决定专注于 OS 本身的发展。目前 Ubuntu One 储存空间和音乐的销售都已经停止了，现有用户将可以继续用到 6 月 1 号，云端上的东西将可继续被下载至 7 月 30 号；而已买下一年制服务的用户则可得到按比例的退款。
